Terms of Use

Last updated 9/23/2026. Plain-language summary — have a lawyer review before relying on it.

1. What iep.tips is

iep.tips is a free, neutral platform that lets parents and guardians post their own experiences with school districts and special education, rate districts, list helpful contacts, organize events, and message each other. We provide the space; the content is yours.

2. User-generated content — your responsibility

You are solely responsible for anything you post. You agree that everything you submit is truthful, based on your own first-hand experience, and something you have a right to share. You will not post false statements, content you know to be inaccurate, another person's private or confidential information (including any child's records), threats, harassment, or anything unlawful.

3. We do not verify content

Posts are published immediately and automatically. iep.tips does not pre-screen, fact-check, edit for accuracy, endorse, or verify user content, and is not the author or publisher of it. We are a conduit for your speech. We may, but are not obligated to, remove content that is reported or that we believe violates these terms.

4. Ratings are about institutions

District grades and ratings are aggregated user opinions about a public institution's handling of IEPs. The "helpful contacts" feature is a positive directory only. Do not use the site to attack, defame, or harass any individual.

5. Reporting & removal

Anyone can report content. We operate a reactive notice-and-takedown process and will remove content that violates these terms once we are aware of it. We may suspend or ban users who violate these terms.

6. No professional advice

Nothing here is legal, medical, or educational advice. Verify your rights with your district, your state education agency, IDEA, and a qualified attorney or advocate.

7. Your license to us

By posting, you grant iep.tips a non-exclusive license to display, distribute, and — where you opt in — forward your content to media and officials to raise awareness. You keep ownership of what you write.

8. Indemnity & liability

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify iep.tips against claims arising from content you post, and the site is provided "as is" without warranties. iep.tips is not liable for user content or for decisions made based on it.

9. Contact

Questions, reports, or takedown requests: use the contact on our disclosure page.
