Posting Guidelines — please be honest

iep.tips only works if every story is true. Thousands of parents will read what you write and make real decisions for their children based on it. Please hold yourself to these standards:

What we rate

You rate your school district — the institution — on how it handled your child's IEP. We do not rate, score, or rank individual employees. The "helpful contacts" section is a positive directory only: a place to point other families toward the people and offices that actually helped you.

Do

  • Tell the truth. Share only what you personally experienced or witnessed first-hand.
  • Be specific and factual. Dates, steps, letters, meetings, and outcomes help far more than adjectives.
  • Focus on the process and the district. "It took three months and a written complaint to get an evaluation" is a fair account of a district's process.
  • Give credit. If a person or office helped your child, add them as a helpful contact so the next family knows where to go.

Don't

  • Don't post a named individual as a complaint, accusation, or warning — that's not what this site is for.
  • Don't post rumors, second-hand accounts, or anything you can't stand behind.
  • Don't share a child's private medical, disability, or educational records — yours or anyone else's.
  • Don't post threats, harassment, or discriminatory content.

iep.tips is a neutral platform: posts go live immediately and we do not pre-screen or verify them. We rely on you to be truthful, and on the community to flag problems. Anyone can report a post that is false, abusive, or exposes private information, and we remove content that violates these guidelines once we're aware of it. Repeat violators are banned.
